Introduction

Dear Reader,

My name is Jovannah Bär (von Söhsten) and I am a 23 year old with a zest for life. I often carry a notebook and pen around and jot down thoughts which sometimes turn into songs and poetry.

Writing has been my passion ever since I know how to and I feel lucky to be able to publish my work and put my words out there. Check “Collaborations” and “Solo Publications” to see my previous works.

Whereabouts
My native language is Dutch, as I was born in the Netherlands as a Dutch/ Indonesian girl.  My poetry and my private notes, however, are English most of the time. I love the English language with all its colours and shades. Usually I visit the United Kingdom twice a year. Brighton has stolen my heart!

Ambitions & School
All my life I wanted to become a doctor. This ambition has shaped my personality over the years. Unfortunately, life has presented me with obstacles that made it very hard for me to concentrate. Studying has never been easy for me. I started out at college to study medical imaging. After a year I switched to biology. Both of these would have helped get into medical school. During the COVID-19 Crisis, failing my second attempt at college, I realised I had to pick something more in my natural capabilities. This is why I will start college for Journalism in September.

Letting go of my lifelong ambition has been very hard on me. To distract myself from this feeling of loss I started art in coexistence, helping me to become excited about this new career path.

Work
Meanwhile, I work at an environmental and health focussed research company where we help companies to produce their food in way which is not harmful to our health and our environment.
